Learning Tools

A purple Study Beyond English travel coffee cup

Sometimes you need to check your wording and that you are on the right track...but you've no access to a teacher.
Sometimes, you are the teacher, and you need a lesson sorted ahead of time so that you have more time for other tasks.

Here are the Study Beyond English learning tools that you can use to help you with your learning and teaching.

They can support your language and literature skills, identifying your use of assessment objectives for your exam board and nudge you in the right direction.
These are checkers and although 'closed' (you're not chatting to a ChatBot), they are AI-supported.
Therefore, they may make errors and they are not guaranteed a final mark.
However, they are current and backed by my teaching experience, skills, and knowledge, with safeguarding and mindfulness at their centre.

Built on the Study Beyond English Golden Essay Structure and incorporating the Power of Y — with full acknowledgement and thanks to Mr Davies, whose YouTube teaching has helped thousands of learners — Essay Compass guides students through every stage of planning, from first spark to final structure.

What Essay Compass helps students do:

🧠 Brain‑dump without fear

Students can pour every idea, quote, question, worry, or spark into a safe space that welcomes messy thinking.

🎯 Sort ideas into a clear structure

The tool gently organises thoughts into the Golden Essay Structure, helping students see what they already know — and what they want to explore.

🔍 Zoom in on key words

A dedicated Zoom‑In panel helps students analyse language, connotations, intention, and impact with confidence.

🗑️ Let go of weaker ideas

A tiny bin mini‑game encourages students to discard ideas that don’t serve their argument — a playful way to practise academic judgement.

Fliss Falconer has been a teacher of English and Drama for 12 years, and prides herself on going above and beyond for her students with making them understand their value and worth, and that English is more than a langugae to learn to pass an examination.

Through practical and online lessons in both subjects, Fliss has developed extensive resources and lessons that support students and their individual needs, so they are met where they are and progress in ways that suit them.

She launched Study Beyond English in 2026 as a way to home her mindful resources, provide support for learners and teachers at all stages of their education journey, and to offer exceptional teaching and revision resources to students across the globe.
