Refund Policy
Last updated: 22 August 2026
In short: you have 14 days to change your mind on anything you buy from us. Email hello@studybeyondenglish.com and we will sort it. Subscriptions can be cancelled any time through Stripe (so future payments stop at the next billing date). Your legal rights always apply on top of this.
1. About this policy
Study Beyond English (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides online courses, learning resources, applications, speech rehearsal tools and related digital services through www.studybeyondenglish.com.
This Refund Policy applies to all paid digital products and services sold by Study Beyond English, including products purchased through our website, Stripe or any other payment or enrolment system we make available.
It replaces any previous refund policy relating to individual products, including Your Next Chapter and Your Next Chapter Pro.
This policy is intended to operate alongside applicable UK consumer protection law, including:
-
the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013; and
-
the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Nothing in this policy removes, restricts or limits your statutory legal rights.
If you have any questions about a purchase, cancellation or refund, please contact us at hello@studybeyondenglish.com. We value clear communication and will deal with refund requests fairly and respectfully.
2. Products covered by this policy (product-based scope)
This Refund Policy applies on a product and service basis (not a page or domain basis). It applies to every paid digital product or service sold by Study Beyond English, whether sold via one or more of our websites, subdomains, checkout pages, learning platforms or any third-party payment/enrolment system we make available (including Stripe).
This includes (without limitation), where offered now or in the future:
-
Your Next Chapter (including any paid plan such as Your Next Chapter Premium);
-
Your Next Chapter Pro (live cohort programme with reserved places);
-
GCSE English: Sorted online learning hub (subscription, including the £15/month plan where offered);
-
GCSE English: Sorted BOOTCAMP (one-off purchase, including the £99 price where offered); and
-
EchoGuide paid products and services (including EchoGuide Pro subscription, EchoGuide Theatre, EchoGuide Events and EchoGuide Pro Platform / organisational access),
together with any other paid digital product or service Study Beyond English sells now or in the future, including any upgrades, add-ons, bundles, replacements or substantially similar offerings (together, “Paid Products”).
Free resources, free introductory lessons, free trials and the free EchoGuide web version are not subject to refunds (see section 3).
3. Free resources and free access
Free resources, free introductory lessons, free trials and the free EchoGuide web version are provided at no cost and are not subject to refunds.
This does not affect any statutory rights that may apply where a paid product or service has been purchased alongside or following free access.
4. Statutory cancellation rights
When you purchase a digital product or service online as a consumer, you may have a statutory right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
Where applicable, the cancellation period is generally 14 days from the day after the contract is made or the purchase is confirmed.
To exercise a statutory cancellation right, you must notify us clearly that you wish to cancel. You can do this by emailing hello@studybeyondenglish.com.
Please include:
-
your full name;
-
the email address used when purchasing;
-
the name of the product or service; and
-
the date of purchase, if available.
You do not need to use any particular wording or cancellation form. An email clearly stating that you wish to cancel will be sufficient.
5. Immediate access to digital content
Our paid products may provide immediate access to digital content, including recorded lessons, online learning hubs, applications, digital resources, software features, videos, audio, written materials and other online content.
At checkout, you may be asked to:
-
expressly consent to the digital content being made available before the end of the 14-day cancellation period; and
-
acknowledge that, once supply of the digital content begins, you may lose your statutory right to cancel.
If you provide the required express consent and acknowledgement, your statutory 14-day cancellation right for that digital content will end when supply begins, in accordance with applicable law.
Accessing digital content may include:
-
logging into a member area;
-
opening or using a course or learning hub;
-
streaming or viewing course videos;
-
downloading course materials;
-
activating an application or digital tool;
-
using paid EchoGuide features; or
-
otherwise beginning to use the paid digital product.
If the required express consent and acknowledgement have not been obtained, your statutory cancellation rights will not be removed merely because access was made available.
Statutory rights relating to faulty, misdescribed or otherwise non-conforming digital content continue to apply regardless of whether digital content has been accessed.
6. Goodwill refund guarantee (14 days from purchase)
In addition to your statutory rights, we offer a 14-day goodwill refund guarantee across our Paid Products.
If you email hello@studybeyondenglish.com within 14 days of purchase and explain what did not work for you, we will refund the purchase price in full.
The goodwill guarantee operates as follows:
-
refunds are not automatic;
-
you must email hello@studybeyondenglish.com to request a refund;
-
your request must be sent within 14 days of purchase (or enrolment, where enrolment is the purchase event);
-
your email should identify the product or service and the email address used at checkout; and
-
no goodwill refund will be issued unless you email us to request it within the applicable 14-day period.
We may ask for brief details about your experience so that we can understand what was not suitable, and we ask that customers engage genuinely with us when requesting a refund.
The goodwill guarantee does not remove or reduce any statutory right to cancel or obtain a remedy. If you believe that a product or service is faulty, not as described or otherwise does not comply with your legal rights, please explain this in your email so that we can assess the appropriate statutory remedy.
7. Subscription products (rolling subscriptions)
Some Paid Products are supplied on a recurring subscription basis. These may include (where offered):
-
the GCSE English: Sorted online learning hub monthly subscription (including the £15/month plan);
-
Your Next Chapter Premium (or any similar paid plan for Your Next Chapter);
-
EchoGuide Pro subscription; and
-
other recurring EchoGuide, organisational or platform subscriptions.
7.1 Cancelling a subscription (Stripe and next billing date)
You can cancel a subscription at any time through Stripe, using the cancellation process, cancellation link or customer billing portal made available for your subscription.
Cancelling through Stripe:
-
stops future recurring payments from the next billing date (i.e. you will not be charged for the next billing period once cancellation is effective);
-
does not automatically refund amounts already paid; and
-
does not necessarily end access immediately — access may continue until the end of the current paid billing period, unless the applicable product terms state otherwise.
7.2 Goodwill refunds for subscriptions (first payment only)
Cancellation of a subscription through Stripe is separate from a refund request.
For rolling subscriptions (including the GCSE English: Sorted online learning hub monthly subscription, Your Next Chapter Premium, and EchoGuide Pro subscription), our 14-day goodwill refund guarantee applies to the first payment only.
If you want a goodwill refund of the first payment, you must email hello@studybeyondenglish.com within 14 days of the date you made that first payment and explain what did not work for you. We will then refund the first payment in full.
Subsequent subscription payments are not refundable on a goodwill basis. Instead, you can cancel at any time through Stripe, which stops future payments from the next billing date, and the billing period already in progress runs to its end.
This does not affect your statutory rights, including rights relating to faulty or non-conforming digital content or services under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
8. Live sessions and cohort-based courses (reserved places)
Some Paid Products are delivered as live cohorts with scheduled sessions and limited capacity, where we reserve a place for you and may commit resources in advance. This includes Your Next Chapter Pro (and any similar live cohort programme we offer).
If you wish to withdraw, please email hello@studybeyondenglish.com as early as possible.
8.1 Refunds or transfers (notice and ability to fill the place)
Whether a refund or a transfer to a future cohort is available depends on:
-
how much notice you provide;
-
whether the cohort has started;
-
the dates and format of the relevant programme; and
-
whether we can fill your place (or otherwise reallocate resources).
We will consider requests fairly and will tell you what options are available.
8.2 If we can fill your place
If you give notice and we are able to fill your place, we will normally offer either:
-
a refund (processed in line with section 12), or
-
a transfer to a future cohort (subject to availability),
unless different terms were clearly displayed at checkout for your cohort.
8.3 If we cannot fill your place / late notice
If we are unable to fill your place (including where notice is short or the cohort has started), a refund may not be available. Where reasonably practicable, we may offer a transfer to a future cohort instead, but transfers are not guaranteed and depend on availability and programme scheduling.
Nothing in this section limits any statutory cancellation or consumer rights that apply to the contract.
9. One-off purchases with immediate access and time-limited access (e.g. BOOTCAMP)
Some Paid Products are sold as a one-off purchase with immediate access to digital content (for example, the GCSE English: Sorted BOOTCAMP), rather than as a rolling subscription.
9.1 14-day goodwill refund window (purchase-based)
For these one-off immediate-access products, our 14-day goodwill refund guarantee applies (section 6):
-
the 14-day goodwill window runs from the date of purchase; and
-
refunds are not automatic — you must email hello@studybeyondenglish.com within 14 days of purchase to request a refund.
9.2 Time-limited access (BOOTCAMP: three months)
Where a product grants access for a fixed period, access will lapse at the end of that period.
For the GCSE English: Sorted BOOTCAMP, access is granted for three months from the start of access (or as otherwise stated at checkout) and lapses at the end of month three. It is not an automatically renewing monthly subscription unless the checkout page expressly states otherwise.
9.3 Refund requests made later in the term (e.g. month three)
If you request a refund after the 14-day goodwill window has ended (for example, during month three of a three-month term), no goodwill refund will be available because the 14-day goodwill window runs from purchase.
In addition, where the term has been substantially or fully delivered, we will not provide a goodwill refund. This does not affect any statutory rights you may have in relation to faulty, missing or misdescribed digital content or services (see section 11).
If you believe the content is faulty or not as described, please email hello@studybeyondenglish.com and explain the issue so we can assess the appropriate statutory remedy.
10. Organisational and platform purchases
EchoGuide Pro Platform access may be purchased by schools, organisations, employers, NHS Trusts or other institutional customers.
For organisational purchases, the applicable order form, proposal, licence, statement of work or other written agreement may contain additional commercial terms, including:
-
the subscription or licence period;
-
the number of authorised users;
-
implementation or onboarding arrangements;
-
renewal and cancellation provisions; and
-
any minimum term or notice period.
Where an organisational agreement contains specific refund or cancellation terms, those terms will apply to the extent permitted by law. This policy continues to apply to any consumer purchase and to any statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Faulty, missing or misdescribed products
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, paid digital content and services must meet applicable statutory standards. In particular, digital content should be:
-
of satisfactory quality;
-
fit for any particular purpose made known to us before purchase; and
-
as described.
If a paid product or service is faulty, unavailable, missing, materially different from its description or otherwise does not conform to the contract, please contact us at hello@studybeyondenglish.com.
Depending on the circumstances, you may be entitled to:
-
repair or replacement;
-
restoration of access;
-
a price reduction;
-
a full or partial refund; or
-
another remedy available under applicable law.
We will normally seek to repair, replace or restore the affected product or service within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience to you where this is appropriate.
If we cannot provide an appropriate repair or replacement, or fail to do so within a reasonable time, you may be entitled to a price reduction or refund in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
These statutory remedies are separate from, and are not restricted by, the goodwill refund guarantee in this policy.
12. Refund approval and processing
Where a refund is approved or legally due:
-
we will refund the relevant amount to the original payment method used for the purchase, unless you agree otherwise;
-
we will not charge an administration fee for processing the refund; and
-
we will make the reimbursement without undue delay and no later than 14 days after (as applicable) you tell us you wish to cancel or we confirm the refund is due.
Once we have made the refund, how quickly the funds appear in your account depends on your bank, card issuer or payment provider.
Where only part of a product or service is affected, or where the law permits a proportionate deduction for a service already supplied, the refund may be partial.
13. How to contact us
For all enquiries about purchases, cancellations, subscriptions or refunds, please contact:
Email: hello@studybeyondenglish.com
To help us respond promptly, please include your name, the email address used at checkout, the product or service purchased, the purchase date and the reason for your request.
14. Updates to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time to reflect changes to:
-
our products or services;
-
our payment and subscription systems;
-
our business practices; or
-
applicable legal or regulatory requirements.
The “Last updated” date at the top of this policy indicates when the most recent changes were made.
The version of this policy in force at the time of your purchase will generally apply to that transaction, unless a change is required by law or is expressly agreed with you.
