Some SBE tools operate on a subscription basis.

By subscribing, you agree to:

  • Recurring billing on a monthly or annual basis

  • Payment processing through Stripe

  • Automatic renewal unless cancelled

  • Providing accurate and current payment information

Payment Processing and Third Parties

Payments are handled by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card details. Your use of Stripe is subject to Stripe’s own terms and privacy policy, and we are not responsible for the acts or omissions of Stripe or any other third-party service we rely on to deliver our tools.

Free Trials

If a free trial is offered:

  • You will not be charged until the trial ends

  • You may cancel at any time before the trial ends

  • If you do not cancel, your paid subscription begins automatically at the end of the trial

Cancellations

You may cancel at any time. Access continues until the end of the billing period for which you have already paid. We do not offer partial refunds for unused time, except where you have a statutory right to a refund (see Consumer Rights & Refunds below).

Failed Payments

If a payment fails, Stripe will attempt to retry the charge. Access to premium features may be paused until payment is resolved.

Price Changes

We may change our subscription prices from time to time. Where a change affects your existing subscription, we will give you reasonable notice before the change takes effect, and you may cancel before the new price applies.

5. Consumer Rights & Refunds

If you are a consumer in the UK, you have statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, and nothing in these Terms affects those rights.

Digital content is supplied to you as soon as you begin using it. Where you purchase digital content or a subscription, you will be asked to agree that supply begins immediately and to acknowledge that, by doing so, you waive your 14-day right to cancel for a refund once you have started accessing the content. Until you begin using the content, you keep your cancellation right.

If a tool is faulty or not as described, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund. To request a refund or report a problem, contact us at hello@studybeyondenglish.com and we will respond promptly.

6. Educational Use

SBE tools are designed for students, teachers, families, schools, and drama and performing arts organisations.

Schools and organisations must purchase an appropriate licence for:

  • EchoGuide Pro

  • EchoGuide Theatre

  • EchoGuide Theatre Pro

  • English Assessment Engine

Licences are granted for use within the purchasing institution only and may not be shared with other organisations without our written permission.

7. Age & Eligibility

Many of our tools are designed for young learners, including those under the age of 18. We take the safety of younger users seriously.

Where a tool is used by a child, we expect that use to be arranged and supervised by a parent, carer, teacher, or school. Subscriptions and payments must be set up and managed by an adult aged 18 or over who is responsible for the account.

Schools and organisations are responsible for obtaining any consents required under their own safeguarding and data protection policies before introducing our tools to children in their care.

8. Safeguarding & Wellbeing

SBE is a safeguarding-first organisation. We design tools that support emotional safety, accessibility, and learner wellbeing. We will always aim to put the wellbeing of the learner first.

However, please note:

  • We do not replace professional safeguarding, mental health, or educational services

  • We are not responsible for how users apply our tools in their own settings

If you have an immediate safeguarding concern about a child, please follow your own organisation’s safeguarding procedures or contact the relevant local authority.

9. AI & Automated Features

Some of our tools, including the English Assessment Engine and parts of the EchoGuide tools, use automated or AI-assisted features to generate feedback, highlight text, or support learning.

These features are designed to support, not replace, the judgement of a teacher, tutor, or parent. Automated feedback may not always be accurate or complete, and it should be reviewed by a person before being acted on. We do not use the personal content of learners to train third-party AI models for unrelated purposes.

10. Privacy & Data

We collect only the data necessary to operate our services.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share personal data with third parties for their own marketing.

We comply with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Where we act as a data processor for a school or organisation, we will do so under a separate data processing agreement. For full details of how we collect, use, and protect your information, please see our Privacy Policy.

11. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, SBE is not liable for:

  • Loss of data

  • Loss of income or business

  • Technical issues outside our reasonable control

  • Misuse of our tools

  • The acts, omissions, or failures of third parties

Our tools are provided “as is” and we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Where you are a consumer, these limitations do not affect your statutory rights.

12. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes relating to them will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date, and your continued use of our website or tools after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
