Hello, wonderful families, parents, and supporters! 💛
As the gentle summer evening settles around us, carrying the quiet promise of a new academic season just over the horizon, many of us begin to think about the educational journey ahead. If you have a teenager preparing for their GCSE English exams, you might already feel that familiar flicker of nervous energy: both in your household and in your own mind.
Navigating GCSE English Language and Literature can feel like deciphering an intricate, shifting tapestry. Whether it is mastering the nuances of a Shakespearean tragedy, unravelling 19th-century prose, or perfecting imaginative writing for Paper 1, the questions can pile up quickly.
That is why we are so deeply thrilled to announce something special, born out of gratitude for our incredible community and a desire to make GCSE preparation feel nurturing, accessible, and entirely free from fear: 'Wednesday Win'. 🌸
What is 'Wednesday Win'?
Starting this week on Wednesday 5 August 2026, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM BST, we are opening our virtual doors for a brand-new weekly live Q&A session hosted by Fliss via Google Meet.
These sessions are designed as a completely safe, welcoming space where parents, carers, and supporters can bring their questions about GCSE English Language and Literature. There is no membership required, no pressure, and absolutely no cost. Whether you want to understand how marking schemes work, how to support your child's revision without friction, or how to break down tricky analytical concepts, Fliss will be right there to share practical hints, tips, and tricks.

"We wanted to create a sanctuary of calm amidst the storm of exam preparation: a place where messy thinking is welcomed and every question matters." : Fliss Falconer, Founder 🌈
Why We Created a Free Weekly Space for Parents and Carers
Supporting a teenager through their GCSEs can often feel like navigating uncharted waters. As parents and carers, you want to offer the best guidance possible, but exam specifications change, terminology evolves, and second-guessing your own approach is completely natural.
We believe that GCSE English support should never feel exclusive or intimidating. By hosting these weekly Google Meet sessions, our goal is to bridge the gap between classroom expectations and home support, giving you:
Direct answers to your most pressing questions regarding AQA and exam board criteria.
Actionable revision strategies that you can easily share with your teenager around the kitchen table.
Peace of mind, knowing you are part of a warm, empathetic community that genuinely cares about your family’s wellbeing.
A gentle routine that turns daunting study goals into manageable, bite-sized weekly wins.
What to Expect During Our Hour Together
Each Wednesday session is structured to be informal, deeply supportive, and rich with practical takeaways. Here is a glimpse of what we will explore each week:
The Warm Welcome & Q&A Open Floor: We kick off by addressing your specific questions submitted live or ahead of time. No question is ever too small or too basic!
Decoding the Mark Scheme: Fliss breaks down complex assessment objectives (like AO2 language analysis and AO3 contextual understanding) into plain, everyday English.
Creative & Analytical Tips: Discover bite-sized exercises: like our favourite "Tell a Chum" storytelling prompts or mirror-rehearsal techniques: that make revision feel engaging rather than exhausting. 🧠
Mindful Encouragement: We focus heavily on reducing anxiety, fostering resilience, and celebrating small victories along the way.
